The Practice of the Presence of God (1895 edition)
Brother Lawrence does not say the doubt is taken away. He says light was given in it, which is a different thing and a smaller claim. He also names the one condition he noticed: the light came when nothing else was wanted but to please. Nothing here asks a visitor to be certain. It asks only what they are reaching for.
