Luce intellettual, piena d'amore

Dante Alighieri

Divine Comedy, Paradiso, Canto XXX, line 40

Dante reached the end of his poem and found the two words he had been circling: light, and love. He says them as one thing — light that knows, love that sees. Nothing here asks you to believe anything. Only to notice that when you look steadily at what is in front of you, those are the two words left standing.
